On the eastern side of Lake Sumter Landing's town square, the road winds off to the right fronting a series of shops, including one huge furniture store that takes up about three city blocks.

This fence, across from the lake and the boardwalk, caught my eye. It is very attractive I think. The stone work makes it.

Happy Hour at the square

Both the Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter Landing hometowns provide outdoor bars for residents who gather in the evenings to listen to music and dance in the town squares. These bars are very busy during "Happy Hour" which usually consists of several hours during which time two drinks can be purchased for the price of one.

This particular bar is located at the Lake Sumter Landing town square.

Cozco Handcrafts - Spanish Springs

If you wish to divest yourself of some hard-earned cash in return for handcrafted items, some supposedly from Peru, enter here. The Villages offers a variety of shopping experiences.

Sharp-eyed observers will note we posted a photo of the top of this building a couple of weeks ago. We thought it appropriate to also show a picture of the bottom. Every decent building should have a bottom as well as a top.

This boat, like so many other things in The Villages, is to look at, not use. It is across the lake, on the far side of Lake Sumter, but a long lens has compressed the distance intimating that it's near at hand.

I think it's a nice-looking vessel, even if it isn't "real."

Chair to nowhere

It's at the rear of the Barnes and Noble bookstore, this chair. It overlooks a small canal and parking lot. You can sit in it, but why? It seems to have no purpose other than decoration. In the second photo, I redecorated it a bit - changing the color photo to a color sketch.

Crash!

Being a Disneyesque affair, Lake Sumter Landing has arranged for a boat to crash into a pier. If nothing else, it offers a point of conversation. Do you like the black and white photo better?

Bowling alley

If I recall correctly, this building houses a rec center and bowling alley. Whatever, it's a beautiful building just north of downtown Spanish Springs.

A river runs through it

Well, not exactly a river. A small stream. Near downtown Lake Sumter Landing. It's rather attractive though.

Theater at Lake Sumter Landing

Each of the two hometowns in The Villages has its own movie theater. They are quite attractive and do a brisk business. This theater is located across from the square in Lake Sumter Landing. Park your golf cart out front and go see a movie!
