It is a causeway for golf carts, allowing residents on one side of the highway (441 and 27) to visit people and places on the other side. On occasion it is very busy as golf carts coming flying over the top and down the sides.
@ Jim, et. al. You would never know how dangerous golf carts can be unless you've spent some time in The Villages...sometimes it's like a unregulated race track, all these things tearing around and coming out of nowhere!
@ CQ - People have cars, too, and there are roads for them. But most people living in The Villages has a golf cart (or two) - that's one of the perks of living there and you can drive your golf cart all over the community...
The Villages is one of the fastest-growing retirement communities in the United States.
Located in Central Florida, about an hour's drive northwest of Orlando, the Villages is now home to some 150,000 residents, many of which travel the area via golf cart.
There are now three "home towns" in The Villages, Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter Landing and Brownwood. Music and dancing is provided nightly in the town squares of each of the home towns.
The Villages is a beautiful community and we hope you enjoy viewing our photos showcasing its many charms.

What a great little bridge or causeway or even pathway I suppose. It looks quaint but is a modern thing. MB
I have never seen a causeway for golf carts before, well to be honest I have never seen golf carts:) do they move fast? The bridge is great!
It's a nice causeway. What do you do when you only have a car? Does EVERYONE own a golf cart?
When I looked at the top photo, I thought that doesnt look very wide. Then I see its for golf carts. Pretty neat.
Very unusual. Nice pics!
