Information Trolley
Because so many people visit the three "hometowns" of The Villages, this trolley makes its rounds to provide up-to-date information on The Villages. This particular one was set up early evening in the square in Lake Sumter Landing.

RJ Gators Restaurant - Lake Sumter Landing
The interior was mostly bereft of patrons
Even the bar, usually a busy place, was silent
The people were outside on the veranda overlooking the water.
A guitarist/singer was providing the entertainment.
He was so loud that it hurt one's ears just to walk nearby.
We had our meal inside where it was quiet. That's where I took the first two shots!

Crashed Sailboat
Those who live in The Villages or surrounding areas, know this iconic crashed sailboat well. But, like the other sinking ship in Lake Sumter, it is rotting away and it would behoove the powers-that-be to replace them with newer tourist teasers.

Buildings in the three home towns of The Villages
Brownwood Post Office - Brownwood
Cattlemen's Association - Spanish Springs
Citizens First Bank - Spanish Springs
Bank - Lake Sumter Landing
Sneaky Jake's Tavern - Brownwood
Please note that with the exception of the two banks, none of these buildings are what they claim to be. They are creations by the powers-that-be in The Villages to give the area a "vintage" effect. As we've said before, The Villages is a "Disneyland for Adults."

The Villages Charter Middle School - Mass Murder Attack Derailed
This is a photo taken several years ago of The Villages Charter Middle School. News reports this evening indicate two students from this school have been arrested for planning a massacre similar to the Columbine mass shooting of several years ago.
The teens are in custody and will be charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
The complete story can by found in the Orlando Sentinel newspaper.

Condo in Spanish Springs
This photo shows a small sections of condos in a condo village just north of downtown Spanish Springs. A few years ago, we decided to purchase the condo on the far left. It is an older structure and somewhat small, but we liked the fact it was close to the action in Spanish Springs, plus it came with a nice golf car.
We made an offer, put money down and waited for the home inspection report. Our one major requirement was that it be made of concrete block. It is our firm opinion one should not live in a wooden house in Florida for hurricanes tend to turn them into kindling in a matter of minutes.
Unfortunately, the home inspection report noted that it was, indeed, made of wood with a stucco exterior. We cancelled the contract and that, as they say, was that.
In hindsight, it was too small for our needs and a bit too expensive and the monthly fees in The Villages were, and are, exorbitant. So, all's well that end's well.
