@ Safe Leif - Tsk, tsk. Whatever am I going to do with you? The birds are not on the sidewalk, they're on a post on a pier that juts out over the water and they can see fish in the water very clearly and when they see one they like and have sufficient energy they dive down and ZAP! - that fish is gone!
Shortly after this photo was taken, the anhinga took off for places unknown. Then, the egret followed a short time later, zooming out over the water seeking new fishies while alligators snoozed with only their beady little eyes breaking the surface.
All in all, a fine evening for everyone concerned. Well, except for a few unfortunate fish.
Is this a great world or what? Again, fish exempted.
The Villages is one of the fastest-growing retirement communities in the United States.
Located in Central Florida, about an hour's drive northwest of Orlando, the Villages is now home to some 150,000 residents, many of which travel the area via golf cart.
There are now three "home towns" in The Villages, Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter Landing and Brownwood. Music and dancing is provided nightly in the town squares of each of the home towns.
The Villages is a beautiful community and we hope you enjoy viewing our photos showcasing its many charms.

Wonderful birds and a great image. I got the same idea, but with different fish catchers...
Fabulous capture of the birds, beautiful light!
@ VP - I think I may have stolen your idea and then looked for a photo with different fish catchers! Thanks! I like to mine your mind!
(I took this shot a couple of weeks ago on a rather nice evening in Lake Sumter Landing.)
Great theme day posting! Those birds will have to WAIT for a longgggg time for fish 'cuz fish are in the water, not up on the sidewalk!
Love it!! Super shot.
Do you have to 'WAIT' while finding some thing to mine in his mind? MB
What a beautiful, beautiful photograph. A really magical moment with the light & the bird. Thank you.
truly excellent image. i like this the best of your photo for theme day
Fantastic shot - The lighting is nice & I like the angle of the sun shining on the 2 waiting subjects! heheheee
@ Small City Scene - You betcha! But it's always worth the WAIT as there's so much to mine in VP's mind!

Nah. They are posing for you. Then they will be waiting for fish! Alligators, huh? ;-) Very cool shot and caption!
Gotta love Florida in the winter. I'm hungry for some snapper or grouper now. Wonder if they still are costing an arm and a leg???

@ Jacob - I like more your photo than mine. The light on those ropes is simply wonderful!

Jacob, this is really a great shot.
Absolutely gorgeous! I just love everything on this photo.
P.S. Very funny comment you left on my blog! I LOL for a while! :-)
What a great choice for the theme day! I love it! Looks very warm there. We're at 1 degree this morning. Yes, 1, not a typo.
Here's something I can relate to, and it's a beautiful photo, too! I love the way the background is unforcused.
Great capture!
