We have spent many hours in Lake Sumter Landing walking the boardwalk and taking photos. We had never seen any gators. Until our last visit. Then, suddenly one appeared, maybe 20 yards out, casually gliding through the water, just the top of its head and part of its body visible.
I took a few photos, but it was too dark.
We did not feed it.
What's the world coming to when even gators cannot be fed! (I keep seeing signs like that everywhere I go - no feeding ducks, geese, rabbits, squirrels ...) this one is certainly the most unique and I love the pink/lavender lighting of the photo.
ReplyDeleteIn this beloved place of mine there are real hungry gators? This is quite annoying...
ReplyDeleteoh nice to know that you not feed it! LOL
ReplyDeleteCool shot and crasy bilboard!
Léia
I promise I won't!!!
ReplyDeleteHowever the idea of feeding aligators is really interesting - I imagine someone sitting in the pier and feeding aligators like swans or ducks:)
Have a great day
Fun foto! What would one feed to an alligator? Animal crackers? Bananas? Peanuts? Bread crumbs? Just wondering ...
ReplyDelete@ Safe Leif - Little kids!
ReplyDelete@ VP - You are sooo funny. Actually, it's no big deal, there are gators everywhere in Florida! Just have to keep your eye out and avoid them.
ReplyDeleteAll of a sudden I think I might not venture too near the sides of the boardwalk... You never know, some psycho might push me over. He'd get fined and I'd provide a nice meal.
ReplyDelete@ Tash - The fear is that gators come too close to people...they are very fast. And they will attack if they are hungry and if they identify people with food, well...
ReplyDeleteEvery year a couple of folks are killed by gators in our lakes and rivers...
I promise to the good LORD above, I WON"T FEED THEM! I WON"T DO NOTHING TO KEEP THEM COMING AROUND! hehehe They're so creepy looking
ReplyDeleteHi Jacob - You asked if I used a flash to bring out the fence. No, I didn't have to - It was so weird the evening I shot that pic, because the glow of the sunset seemed to brighten everything. The pic doesn't do the scene justice - It was really pretty out
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting!
It must be exciting watching such animals:)
ReplyDeleteThese are live real gators out in the open? Who wants to go for a swim?
ReplyDelete@ Jim - No, you do not want to swim in this lake!
ReplyDeleteI agree, don't feed them and don't even look at them.
ReplyDeleteThis is one sign not to be ignored
ReplyDeleteCOOL!!! :-)
