Lights 'neath a hot tin roof

These lights, arrayed in such a nice configuration, are on the side of the building that houses the radio station in Lake Sumter Landing.

Keeping things in check

It appears that these gentlemen are checking the scene at the Spanish Springs square -- you know, in case any of the old folks get too rowdy.

Open Bible Evangelical Lutheran Church

The Open Bible Evangelical Lutheran Church is under construction in The Villages between the Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter Landing downtowns.

It is part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, a small, ultra-conservative Lutheran body that believes the Bible is the inerrant word of God and must be taken literally in all respects.

I find the architecture rather interesting and could not help but think if it was painted white it would resemble Casper the ghost.

All dogs like country music

This fine-looking canine specimen was discovered in the Spanish Springs downtown square with his mistress. You'll see he's well tended to, in a nice carriage with netting to keep the bugs away. Although you can't tell from the photo, his little tail was a-wagging to the music of the Redneck Country Club!

Dancing in Spanish Springs

These couples, along with many others, were having a great time dancing to the excellent music of the Redneck Country Club band.

The Redneck Country Club

The Redneck Country Club, an excellent country/western group, were playing in the Spanish Springs town square. Great music; great fun. They performed all the old standards and more. On one cover of a Willie Nelson tune, you could close your eyes and swear that was Willie himself singing!

Harp concert at Spanish Springs Church on the Square

The other evening as we were wandering about Spanish Springs, a country band was playing in the square, people were dancing and everyone was having a good time.

We came upon the Church on the Square. Lois Anne wanted to take some exterior pictures, so I thought I'd go inside and grab some shots of the nave and altar areas. To my surprise, I found a harp concert in progress.

As I quietly entered the nave through a side door, the change was dramatic - from loud country music to the soft strains of a harp playing "Stardust."

This is what it looked like.
