Red Sauce

The Red Sauce, in Lake Sumter Landing, is a new Italian restaurant in the same building that formerly housed another Italian restaurant, Dominig's.

Lois Anne and I ate there recently and found the food to be very good, the service excellent, and the prices reasonable.

Lake Sumter Landing at night

If you look closely, you'll see I was just able to sneak in that sliver of a moon!

Staircase in Spanish Springs

Back to one of my favorite subjects - staircases. This one is located at the rear of a building that faces Main Street in Spanish Springs. Notice that you may not smoke on the landing!

Amigos in Spanish Springs

I love signs and thought this was a good one. The colors are bright and eye-catching and it makes you feel welcome by calling you amigo!

Amigos is located on the first floor of La Reina in Spanish Springs. We have not yet eaten there, but plan to rectify that error in judgment quite soon.

Cruisin' down Main Street

It was unusually quiet one late afternoon when we spotted this gentleman cruisin' down Main Street in Spanish Springs.

Cutesy golf club covers

It seems that almost everyone living in The Villages plays golf. There are probably 30 golf courses between Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter Landing. Often, when a group finishes a round of golf, they buzz into one of the home towns for a drink or something to eat.

I think these people were eating at Up The Creek in Lake Sumter Landing. But aren't those cute head covers?

Welcome to Up The Creek Seafood Bar & Grill

This gentleman welcomes diners to Up The Creek Seafood Bar & Grill at Lake Sumter Landing. He's a very nice man who loves people and loves to talk. I have no idea why he's wearing a red nose.

Bored in Lake Sumter Landing

His mother went into the store to shop. He decided to wait. He got a little bored.

Train signal to nowhere

The "old" train station in Spanish Springs is another example of how the people who run The Villages strive to bring a sense of authenticity to this Disneyland for adults. Thus, they installed an old train signal. Like the railroad car that sits nearby and the track on which it sits, it functions only as decoration.

Rather attractive, though.

Relaxing, listening to the music

We met these fine people a couple of nights ago at Lake Sumter Landing where they were relaxing and listening to some terrific country music being performed across the street at the town square.

They graciously consented to have their picture taken, which we thought was very nice. There are a lot of nice people in The Villages.

Get your hair cut here!

In Spanish Springs there is a barber/stylist anxious to get your business. I'm surprised the shop was allowed to put their sign on the sidewalk. Seems a bit like littering and could cause loitering!

The prices seem reasonable. But why does it cost more to cut a woman's hair than to cut a man's hair? Something is wrong with that picture. And what meaneth the word, "beauty"? Maybe the women get a hair cut and a beauty treatment?
